Why Is My Outdoor Faucet Leaking?
An outdoor faucet may leak from the spout, handle, vacuum breaker, or pipe connection inside the wall. The location of the water can provide an important clue about which component is causing the problem.

A Worn Internal Part May Cause Dripping

Check for Water Inside the Home
Water appearing only outdoors may involve the faucet itself. Moisture inside the basement, crawl space, or wall near the faucet may indicate a damaged connection or split pipe.
Stop using the faucet and contact a plumber when water is entering the building.
Cold Weather Can Damage Outdoor Faucets
Hoses should be disconnected from freeze-resistant outdoor faucets before freezing weather. A connected hose can prevent the faucet from draining and may contribute to freeze damage.
